Philoxenia Honored

We’re thrilled to share that Philoxenia Inc. was honored on April 24 at the 11th Annual Loukoumi Make A Difference Awards in recognition of our organization’s commitment to “feeding and helping the homeless with love and care.”

Philoxenia Founder and President, Despina Kartson, and fellow board members Alexandra King, Susan Russon and Maria Scaros Mercado, were on hand to receive the award and pose for a photo with Loukoumi, a fluffy lamb named after the iconic Greek candy, who is the subject of a children’s book series that explores with readers timeless themes faced by service leaders every day.

The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation, which hosts the awards and publishes the book series, unites and empowers over 150,000 children in 30 countries worldwide to make a difference for causes they are passionate about, making philanthropy fun and not forced and benefitting the children as doers of the good deeds with increased self-esteem, improved mental health and purpose in their lives. Here’s to the next generation of kind-hearted leaders making a global impact. Philoxenia and Loukoumi partner on a number of initiatives each year, including working with New York City’s youth to prepare food and supplies for our neighbors in need.
